Sunday Muddy Sunday...

Needless to say, it's muddy outside. Despite temptation, I managed to avoid my all-time favorite food yesterday... Chinese Food!! I ventured to Half-Price Books, where this awesome Chinese Restaurant my sister frequents is across the street from. I had it like a month ago before a show. Great food, but not great to eat before a show.

Bought some Ballpark Turkey Franks yesterday. There's absolutely no fat in them! Plus, with turkey, it makes you tired for some reason. So, I've heard. I'm definitely starting to see a difference in my face.

Currently reading "Write Great Fiction - Plot & Structure" by James Scott Bell. The first few chapters have really helped me a lot in regards to my own work. Yesterday, I purchased a few of his fictional novels, which I'm looking forward to reading. "Sins of the Fathers", "Deadlock", and "Breach of Promise." I will let you know how they are.

Just recently finished reading Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's autobiography "Wrestling's Bad Boy Tells All." It was very moving to hear his background story and how he dropped out of school in junior high to support his mother and grandmother.

Yesterday was awesome! Got to reconnect with someone I haven't heard from in like 10 years, via Facebook. Heading to church soon, and going to wear a newer outfit. Hope you all have a wonderful day! Thank you for your encouragement!

Happy Saturday All!!!

The weekend is upon us... It was a great Friday for me. I was supposed to substitute teach for Criminal Justice, but it was canceled due to the weather.

Next weekend I get to hang out with the Jeff's. Comedians Jeff Jena & Jeff Allen, who are both hilarious! I've worked with both of them, and they'll be doing a show in Miamisburg, OH.

I watched a bunch of clips from wrestling matches that Bobby "The Brain" Heenan commentated. I haven't heard any other comics ever site him as an inspiration, but I would definitely credit him for helping me develop my personality. He was never afraid to make fun of himself in order to get a laugh from the audience. I love that quality!

Yesterday going into what is now today, I enjoyed a grilled chicken salad with honey mustard. Fat Free Ballpark franks (no buns) with low calorie Woeber's mustard, and more of that wonderful celery. For a desert, I had a couple bananas & blueberries (no sugar added), with sugar free cool whip. Exercise is going good. I'm about to hit the elliptical now.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful Saturday! Godspeed and God Bless!!

No Game Genie Necessary...

How is everyone? Feeling great here, and wanted to update everyone. Been reading a lot more books to stay health conscious. Yesterday was a great day for me. On the menu was Fat Free Ballpark franks, with low calorie mustard, celery (which I read in a magazine sends a natural pheromone through your sweat, that attracts women... fingers crossed), and a protein shake. Exercise is going well. The elliptical has been great. I haven't weighed myself in a while. Will start posting it soon.

In the comedy world, I've been getting some great shows as of late. I will be performing for Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori next month, for their Spring Gala, at the Anderson Center in Cincinnati, OH. Also doing a Laugh All Night Comedy Concert at Christ's Church at Mason, in Mason, OH. Just did a wonderful fundraiser for Pickerington High School North's Marching Band, in Pickerington, OH. I also had a great show last month at the Toledo Funny Bone, doing a feature spot with Comedian Jeff Jena. It was awesome because the place was sold out on Wednesday of all nights. If you would like to see some clips from the show, visit my youtube page, www.youtube.com/richjonescomedy Following the show, I was approached about having a regular monthly call-in spot on the Christian radio station that promoted the show. Things are going awesome!

The above picture is of me and my cousin, the first time I ever beat Super Mario Bros. 2. The reason I decided to post it, was at 12 years old, that was a really big accomplishment for me, because few of my friends had done it, especially without the Game Genie (which helps you cheat). So with that accomplishment completed, I know this challenge I'm currently on, will also be bested, especially with all the encouragement I've been getting.

Still waiting for the post-production to complete on my DVD taping from last October. Stay tuned, cause it will be awesome!

Thank you all for the honor of letting me keep you updated on my progress. Hope you have a blessed weekend, and an enjoyable one at that...

New Features To This Blog...

I've never actually taken a cooking class, but I do enjoy coming up with my own dishes, which usually involves walking up and down a few isles in Trader Joe's. Currently, I'm on phase one of the South Beach Diet. They say it's only supposed to be for 2 weeks before moving on to phase two, however, I've opted to stay on it longer, because the last time I introduced bread after being on phase one, I felt like a sumo wrestler just sat on my chest.

I recently performed for the first time at the Funny Bone in Toledo, OH. It was an awesome show! I was very happy with the response from my Popeye joke, which I've been working on forever. There are actually clips from the show in the videos on my website, www.richjonescomedy.com

In case some of you haven't noticed, I've totally changed the format of the Rich Jones Show on youtube. Before, I would do something I thought was funny, and then throw in some clips from some live shows, most of which got a good response. To be honest, I felt like it was hurting my chances of getting booked, because most people won't watch a youtube video if it's more than 2 minutes long. Mine were averaging about 5-6 minutes in length, and the intro took up about a minute, which is redonkulous... The new format is a 10 second intro (which includes someone introducing me, and a cool guitar riff.) If you get a chance, I hope you go and check it out. The 2 most recent clips are also on my website, www.richjonescomedy.com

Also, if you are interested in receiving my email newsletter, please send an email with your first and last name to thefunnies@richjonescomedy.com with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line. Don't worry, I won't give out your information.

I would like to share more videos in future blogs, because it let's you know more where I am, and even what else is going on. I'm still working on my book, by the way, and I'm even more motivated after reading a free eBook, by my good friend, Tim DeTellis. "The How Behind Your Dream." I encourage everyone to go to his site to download the book. It's been very helpful for me, and Tim is a great guy. The link for that is http://timdetellis.com/?page_id=656

Have a blessed Friday!!
